817-900-8324Have you noticed that your clothes are still damp when the dryer shuts off? Is your dryer taking multiple cycles to get your clothes dry? This is a common sign that your dryer vent is clogged somewhere between your wall and the side of your home, or up into the attic depending on how your house was built and vented. It is recommended that you clean your vents out once a year. You can call a professional to come out and clean them, or there are multiple types of kits you can buy to do this yourself. If you can work a drill, you got this!
In addition to the clothes being damp, here are a few other ways to tell if your vents are clogged:
1. The dryer is hot to the touch while the load is drying.
2. You can smell a burning smell while the dryer is running.
3. You are noticing more lint in the lint trap after each cycle.
By not cleaning out your vents yearly, you can shorten the life of your dryer. When your vents are clogged, the dryer does not have proper air flow to allow the hot air to escape. When the air cannot escape this causes your dryer to overheat and thus popping the safety fuse to prevent the dryer from catching fire.
The bottom line…. Cleaning out your vents yearly can save you not only from costly repairs to your dryer, but can prevent something even worse….. a FIRE!
