817-900-8324If your ice tastes weird, there is a chance it might just be old. To refresh your ice, dump the old ice in the sink, wipe the bin with warm water and dry it completely before putting it back in the ice maker.
If the ice cubes still taste bad, another likely cause could be a dirty evaporator plate. Mineral deposits build up on the evaporator plate and can eventually lead to bad-tasting ice, so be sure to
run a cleaning cycle to clean the evaporator plate about every 6 months or as needed.
If ice cubes STILL taste bad after running the cleaning cycle, check the water supply going to the ice maker! Bad-tasting water will produce bad-tasting ice. To check the water supply, unplug the ice maker and shut off the water supply cut-off valve. Disconnect the water supply line and collect a sample of the supply water in a container and taste the water. If it tastes bad, you need to have a
plumber come out to examine and repair the water supply going to the ice maker.
Lastly, do not store anything else in the ice maker as the ice will absorb odors and tastes from other foods and plastics! These steps and precautions will leave you with wonderful tasting ice for years to come! And if all else fails, call your local appliance repair company and have them come fully check it out for ya!
