Samsung dishwashers show a short code when something’s wrong — and many are quick fixes you can do yourself. Here’s what each Samsung dishwasher error code means, what to try first, and when to call a technician.

Samsung dishwasher error codes at a glance

Code What it means What to try
4C / 4E Water-supply problem (pressure/temp) Check the supply is on; avoid FloodSafe auto-shutoff hoses
5C / 5E Won’t drain Clean the filter, drain hose, and sump
LC / LE Leak detected Check for water under the unit and at hose connections
OC / 0C Overfill Turn off the water supply; this one needs service
3C / 3E Pump fault Restart; if it returns, it needs service
7C / 7E Waterwall reflector issue Remove any packing tape; reseat the reflector
bE / 9E Stuck button Make sure no panel button is stuck down

Codes vary by model — check your manual if yours isn’t listed.

The most common codes — and how to fix them

4C — water-supply problem

The dishwasher isn’t getting adequate water. Try first: confirm the supply valve is open. A common Samsung-specific cause is a FloodSafe/auto-shutoff hose — swapping it for a standard hose often clears it.

5C — won’t drain

Water isn’t draining. Try first: clean the filter, drain hose, and sump of food debris. Still stuck? See dishwasher not draining.

LC — leak detected

The moisture sensor found a leak. Try first: check for water under the unit and inspect the door seal and hose connections. Don’t keep running it until the leak is found.

7C — waterwall reflector

On WaterWall models, the reflector bar isn’t moving freely. Try first: remove any shipping tape and make sure the reflector sits correctly in its track.

The bottom line

Most dishwasher error codes come down to a clogged filter, a kinked hose, or an inexpensive part — repairing is almost always cheaper than replacing. If a code won’t clear, we repair Samsung dishwashers (and every major brand) across DFW, usually same-day. Not sure yours is worth fixing? See our dishwasher repair-or-replace guide.
