Because Electrolux owns Frigidaire, both brands use the same dryer “E” codes. Most relate to the heating system, so the smart first step is always a quick reset and a vent check. Here’s what each code means and when to call a technician.

First step for any E-code: unplug (or flip the breaker) 60 seconds, then run Timed Dry on low for 5 minutes. Codes vary by model.

The most common codes — and how to fix them

E64 — no heat

An open heating element or its wiring — the dryer runs but won’t heat. Try first: a 60-second power reset. If it returns, the element, thermal fuse, or harness needs to be tested and replaced by a technician.

E61 — heater relay

A stuck or failed heater relay on the control board. Because a welded relay can let the element run uncontrolled, this is a safety code — have it serviced rather than ignored.

E68 — gas ignition (gas models)

The burner didn’t light in time. Try first: confirm the gas supply is on. If you ever smell gas, leave the house and call your gas company’s emergency line — gas work is never DIY.

E4A — moisture sensor

The outlet thermistor used by Predictive Dry has failed, so the dryer falls back to timed drying. It still works — service restores the sensing.

Most dryer codes come down to a clogged vent or an inexpensive part (a thermal fuse, thermistor, or heating element) — repairing is almost always cheaper than replacing.
