Because Electrolux owns Frigidaire, both brands use the same “E-series” error codes — and many are simple, do-it-yourself fixes rather than a reason to replace the machine. Here’s what each Frigidaire/Electrolux washer code means, what to try first, and when to call a technician.

Frigidaire & Electrolux washer error codes at a glance

Code What it means What to try
E10 / E11 Won’t fill Open taps fully; unkink and clean inlet hoses; check the inlet valve
E20 / E21 Won’t drain Clean the drain-pump filter; clear the drain hose
E40 / E41 / E42 / E43 Door won’t lock Close the door firmly; clear obstructions; lock may need replacing
E50 Motor fault Needs service (motor / connections)
E5E / EF Excess suds or foam Use less detergent — HE only
E60 / E61 / E62 Heating fault Usually needs service
EH / EH0 Power / voltage fault Plug into a dedicated outlet; check the supply

Codes vary slightly by model — check your manual if yours isn’t listed.

The most common codes — and how to fix them

E10 / E11 — won’t fill

The washer isn’t getting water fast enough. Try first: open both taps fully, straighten the fill hoses, and clean the inlet screens. Still stuck? The inlet valve may need replacing — see washer won’t fill.

E20 / E21 — won’t drain

The most common Frigidaire code: water can’t drain. Try first: clean the drain-pump filter (behind the lower front panel) and clear the drain hose. Still stuck? The drain pump may be failing — see washer won’t drain.

E40–E43 — door won’t lock

The door isn’t registering as closed and locked. Try first: close it firmly and clear any obstruction. Still stuck? The door-lock assembly is a common, affordable replacement.

E50 — motor fault

A motor or motor-control problem. This isn’t a DIY fix — it needs a technician to check the connections and motor.
