Because Electrolux owns Frigidaire, both brands use the same dishwasher “i” codes — and many are simple, do-it-yourself fixes. Here’s what each Frigidaire/Electrolux dishwasher code means, what to try first, and when to call a technician.

Frigidaire & Electrolux dishwasher error codes at a glance

Code What it means What to try
i10 Water not filling fast enough Open the supply valve; unkink the hose; clean the inlet filter
i20 No water detected in the tub Clean the filter, glass trap, and sump of food soil
i30 Leak / water in the base Check for leaks around the base and the drain hose
i40 Flood protection (clogged filters) Clean the filters; check the drain hose
iF0 Drain / filtration issue On a new install, remove the disposal knockout plug; clean filters

Codes vary by model — check your manual if yours isn’t listed.

The most common codes — and how to fix them

i10 — won’t fill

Water isn’t entering fast enough. Try first: open the under-sink supply valve fully, straighten the inlet hose, and clean the inlet filter.

i20 — no water detected / poor cleaning

Food soil has built up in the sump. Try first: clean the filter, glass trap, and sump, then re-run. See also dishwasher not cleaning.

i30 — leak detected

Water reached the base pan. Try first: check around the base and the drain hose for leaks; don’t keep running it until it’s found.

i40 / iF0 — drain / flood protection

Clogged filters or a drain blockage tripped flood protection. Try first: clean the filters and clear the drain hose; on a new install, make sure the disposal knockout plug was removed. Still stuck? See dishwasher not draining.

The bottom line

Most dishwasher error codes come down to a clogged filter, a kinked hose, or an inexpensive part — repairing is almost always cheaper than replacing. If a code won’t clear, we repair Frigidaire and Electrolux dishwashers (and every major brand) across DFW, usually same-day. Not sure yours is worth fixing?
